The Israel Defense Forces Operations Directorate issued a statement stressing its safety recommendations for soldiers overseas, while also noting a recent increase in anti-Semitic attacks.
The Israel Defense Forces have issued a series of new recommendations to soldiers and personnel currently abroad in response to the terrorist attack on Australia’s Bondi Beach that killed 15 people, including an Israeli, Army Radio reported on Monday.
According to the report, the IDF advises its soldiers not to reveal that they are IDF soldiers and not to discuss IDF issues in general and confidential matters in particular. The military also reportedly advised them to be particularly vigilant about their personal safety while abroad and to avoid leaving a footprint online or in the media.
The IDF also added that “given the increase in anti-Semitism and recent events in the Jewish community, it is important to increase vigilance in civilian areas and distance themselves from demonstrations for and against Israel.”
Finally, the IDF urges its soldiers to report any incidents abroad to their commanders.

Government issues warning to Israelis abroad after Bondi Beach shooting
This comes after the Israeli government issued a series of warnings and advice to Israelis abroad in the wake of the Bondi Beach shooting on Sunday.
“History tells us that terrorist supporters may be inspired by this incident to attempt copycat attacks,” the National Security Council said on Sunday.
The guidance warns against attending unsafe public events, including Hanukkah parties, Chabad houses and synagogues. They also reminded Israelis to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or objects to local security services.
