India’s tour of Australia enters its longest final leg on Thursday, with Virat Kohli’s men – who will soon be Ajinkya Rahane’s men as Kohli is about to go on paternity leave – starting a four-match Test series in Adelaide, a pitch they have yet to set foot on since their arrival in Australia. The same goes for the second and fourth Test matches, held in Melbourne and Brisbane respectively. The third match will see India and Australia return to the Sydney Cricket Ground, a venue that has hosted five matches across formats, including the recent three-day day-night match between India and Australia A in preparation for the day-night Adelaide Test. The two giants of cricket will vie for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well as the inaugural ICC World Test Championship title, with India currently ranked second behind Australia.
