Facebook recently expanded its Like icon to include a full set of six “reaction” emojis, showing emotions such as “Like,” “Love,” “Laughing,” “Wow,” “Sad,” and “Angry” for comments and statuses. This removes the odd situation where people get conditioned to “like” statuses with sad messages and gives them the flexibility to react in a more appropriate way.
However, thanks to a developer named Rodney Folz, there’s now a more fun way to use Facebook’s emoji Reactions, as you can now swap them with Donald Trump’s face, a Pokemon character, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, or other icons of your own. Foltz calls it a reaction package.
Here’s how you can now change the regular built-in reaction emoji characters on Facebook to other characters on the desktop browser versions of Chrome and Firefox.
-
Open a web browser (Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox) on your computer.
-
Download and install the “Reaction Packs for Facebook” plugin for Firefox or Chrome.
-
Visit the Reaction Packs website and select the packages you want to see on Facebook.
-
Open your Facebook account in the same browser and click Refresh. Once you’re done, you’ll see the new reaction pack on Facebook instead of the original reaction emoji.

To make it more customizable, you can also upload your own react package by following the guidelines given in the website. Unfortunately, the new emoji characters will only be visible to you or others who have the plugin installed. Those who haven’t installed the plugin will see regular emoji reactions on Facebook (on desktop and mobile apps). These plugins are also not available on any mobile app version.
It’s really that simple. What will you do? A Pokemon character, the face of Donald Trump, or something else, maybe a Game of Thrones character? Tell us in the comments.
