WhatsApp has a lot of good features, but one thing is still missing, and that’s the ability to schedule WhatsApp messages. Scheduling messages can be helpful if you want to remember to wish someone on their birthday, or just want to send a message during work hours instead of messaging someone in the middle of the night. There are multiple ways to schedule messages on WhatsApp on both Android and iPhone, but both methods are workarounds as WhatsApp does not officially support this feature.
Since our proposed approach is a workaround, there are some limitations, which we will explain later. Here’s how to schedule messages on WhatsApp on Android and iPhone.
How to schedule WhatsApp messages on Android
As we mentioned above, WhatsApp does not have an official message scheduling feature. However, if you are using an Android smartphone, you can schedule messages on WhatsApp with the help of several third-party apps. Yes, there are several third-party apps that promise to do the job, but only one – SKEDit – does it perfectly. Follow the steps below to learn how to schedule WhatsApp messages on Android:
-
When starting up for the first time, you must Sign up.
-
After logging in you have to click on WhatsApp on the main menu.
-
On the next screen you must grant permissions. tap Enable accessibility > SK editor > Open Use the service > allow. Now, return to the application.
-
You must now fill in the details. Add recipient, Enter your message, set up Schedule a date and time and select whether you would like repeat Whether the message is scheduled.
-
Below, you’ll see the last toggle – ask me before sending. Open it > click tick icon > Your message will now be scheduled. Whenever the date and time for your scheduled message arrives, you’ll receive a notification on your phone asking you to complete the action. tap send You will see your scheduled messages being sent in real time.
-
However, if you toggle “Ask me before sending” off, in which case when you click tick iconyou will be asked Disable your phone’s screen lock. You will also be asked Disable battery optimization for your phone as well as. Once you do this, your scheduled message will be sent automatically, meaning you won’t be asked to provide any input on the phone, making the process instant. But then again, not having a screen lock affects the privacy of your phone, which is a huge drawback. That’s why we don’t recommend scheduling WhatsApp messages this way.
How to schedule WhatsApp messages on iPhone
Unlike Android, there aren’t any third-party apps on iOS that allow you to schedule WhatsApp messages. However, there is another way to complete this process on iPhone through Siri Shortcuts, an Apple app that will rely on automation to send WhatsApp messages at scheduled times. Here’s what you need to do to schedule a WhatsApp message on your iPhone.
- Go to the App Store, download the Shortcuts app on your iPhone and open it.
- choose automation Tabs are at the bottom.
- Click + icon and click on the upper right corner Create personal automation.
- On the next screen, click time of day Schedule when to run automation. In this case, select the date and time you want to schedule the WhatsApp message. When finished, click Next.
- tap Add action Then type in the search bar text Then select from the list of actions that appears text.
- after that, Enter your message in the text field. The message can be anything you want to arrange, such as “Happy Birthday.”
- After entering your message, click + icon Find WhatsApp below the text field and in the search bar.
- From the list of actions that appears, select Send message via WhatsApp. Select recipients and click Next. Finally, on the next screen, click complete.
- Now, at the scheduled time, you will receive a notification from the Shortcuts app. Click on the notification and it will open WhatsApp and paste your message into the text field. all you have to do is hit send.
Another thing to note is that you can only schedule WhatsApp messages for up to a week, which is a bit disappointing, but at least now you at least know how to schedule messages for up to a week.
If this limit is too short for you, you can always try this. This is one of the most complex Siri shortcuts we’ve come across, but if you configure it correctly, it can indeed schedule WhatsApp messages for any date and time. It worked fine on one of our iPhones but kept crashing on another, so your situation may be different. However, we can schedule messages using both methods so you can choose the one you prefer.
