The Delhi Transport Department has made it mandatory for all vehicle owners in the national capital to wear High Security Registration Plate (HSRP). All vehicles sold before April 2019 must have an HSRP and color-coded sticker on them. Violators may be fined up to Rs. 10,000. The application process is very simple, you just need to retain your Ride Registration Certificate (RC) before applying for a license plate. In this article, we explain in detail what HSRP is and how to apply for HSRP online. Read on to learn more.
What is a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP)?
HSRP features a chromium-based hologram that is applied to the upper left corner of the front and back license plates. Below the hologram, there is a national identification mark “IND” with a laser-engraved permanent continuous identification number directly below it. The numbers were hammered onto reflective sheeting and covered with “black Indian foil”. The HSRP is secured with the help of spring locks. The benefits of obtaining an HSRP include curbing illegal license plate sales, vehicle theft and vehicle crime.
