How to Add Your Bank Account to Paytm for UPI Transcations

Paytm is a popular digital payments app that enables monetary transactions through smartphones. The app also offers services like recharging phone numbers, paying electricity and gas bills, and booking flight tickets. While users can easily start using Paytm by adding their debit or credit card details, they can even add their bank account details to make UPI transactions easily. By linking a bank account, users do not need to enter CVV and OTP every time they make a transaction with Paytm. Need to know how to add bank account to Paytm to use UPI transactions in the app? We’ve got a simple step-by-step guide on how to do it.

How to add your bank account to Paytm for UPI transactions

Users must first install the Paytm app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store on their phones to start using the digital payment service. After doing this, they need to register on the Paytm app. It is recommended to use the same number as your bank account on Paytm. Paytm supports almost all major banks in India, including Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, PNB Bank and SBI Bank. Unfortunately, we cannot share a screenshot of the process as Paytm has disabled the feature for security reasons. Once the registration process is completed, users can follow the steps below to add their bank account to Paytm wallet.

  1. Open Alipay Applications on your device. Typically, the app will display a pop-up asking you to link a bank account if you haven’t already. Click Link bank account If a pop-up window appears, select this option. If the popup does not appear, click the upper left corner of the hamburger menu you see on the left side of the screen, and then click Your Account > UPI.

  2. A new dialog box will appear showing a list of bank names. Select the bank with the same mobile number registered with Paytm.

  3. After selecting the bank, Paytm will send an SMS from your Paytm registered mobile number for verification and get our associated bank account details. If you have two SIM cards in your phone, it will ask you to choose which SIM card to use for verification.

  4. If your bank account is linked to another number, Paytm will ask you to replace the number registered with Paytm with another phone number linked to your bank account or log in again using your bank registration number. Choose your preferred option.

  5. Click continue Continue to verify via text message. Paytm will send you an SMS informing you that the UPI registration process has started. Once the verification and linking process is over, you should receive a message confirming that your bank account has been successfully linked with Paytm UPI.

  6. Paytm will generate a UPI ID for you and users can manage this account from the left Hamburger menu > Default bank account options. Users can even add more bank accounts to their Paytm wallet from here using the same process as mentioned above.
