Reliance Jio is India’s largest telecom provider in terms of wireless subscriber base, according to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). It has 35.54% market share compared to Airtel’s 29.83% and Vodafone Idea (Vi)’s 24.20%. Jio also added the most users in February this year, with about 4.2 million new wireless users. Many customers prefer Jio over other operators because of the services it offers as well as its budget-friendly plans. Customers who do not use a Jio SIM card can easily buy one or connect to Jio, once they get the SIM card they need to activate it.
Once you have purchased a new SIM card, you can start the Jio SIM activation process. After all documents are submitted, the customer will receive a text message to their backup number asking them to conduct a phone verification. If you do not receive a text message, you may need to wait up to 7 days or call 1800-8899-999 to check the status of your application.
How to Activate Jio SIM (Voice + Data)

Dial 1977 from a Jio SIM-equipped mobile phone.

You will be asked to enter a five-digit T-PIN (Telephone Verification PIN) to complete the phone verification process. This PIN should appear in the text message sent to your backup number.

If you did not receive a T-PIN for your backup number, please call 1977 or 1800-890-1977 to have your T-PIN resent.

Enter your five-digit T-PIN.

Alternatively, you can enter the last four digits of your Aadhaar number.

After completing these steps successfully, your Jio SIM should be activated.
If your SIM card is not activated, please wait a few hours. If you still cannot activate, contact Jio customer support. It should be noted that the phone verification process needs to be completed within 30 days of ordering a new SIM card. If not completed, the order will be cancelled.

- If you only want to activate data services on your Jio SIM, call 1800-890-1977 from any number.
- Select your preferred language.
- You will be asked to enter your Jio number.
- Once completed, data services should be activated on your Jio SIM.
