At the end of the summer transfer window, Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness had to say goodbye to one of his most important players, Nick Waltermade, who left MHP Arena to join Newcastle for a transfer fee of 75 million euros.
With nine goals in 23 games for Newcastle so far, Walter Made has quickly become a popular figure on Tyneside, which does not come as a surprise to his former manager.

“I know Nick is a very good striker and he will become a good striker. This is because of his football quality, his image and his height of 1.98 meters. As a person, he is open, eager to learn, intelligent. He represents growth and development,” Hoeness said in a recent interview with Sports Bild.
“We’ve had two or three phone calls since his move. The intensity of the Premier League is very high and he has to adapt immediately – but he has the ability to do that! That’s why I’m not surprised that he has succeeded and continued on his steep trajectory.
“That was also part of my argument in the summer: Nick won’t get worse, he will get better, become a Germany international and even more popular. But of course, there is always the risk of injury. I believe the transfer fee will be justified very quickly – and Nick will probably become more expensive.”
