Helldiver 2 is Sony’s co-op shooter that will be released on PS5 and PC in 2024 and will be available on Xbox Series S/X next month. The live service game will launch on Xbox on August 26 and is now available for pre-order on the Xbox Store. While Microsoft has released several first-party games on PS5, Helldivers 2 will be the first PlayStation launch game to be released on Xbox.
Helldiver 2 is coming to Xbox
On Thursday, developer Arrowhead Game Studios announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the game would be releasing on Xbox. The studio’s chief creative officer, Johan Pilestedt, said that Helldivers 2 players have been asking for reinforcements for the past year and confirmed that the game is coming to Xbox.
“We’ve known players have been asking for this for some time, and we’re excited to bring more Hellraiser to our game. We’ve got even more content ready in the coming months and years – the more players, the more stories we can tell! The battle for Super Earth has only just begun,” Hellraiser 2 director Mikael Eriksson said in the Xbox Wire announcement.

Helldivers 2 also marks the first time a Sony-published game has made it to the Xbox platform. The game is published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and launched simultaneously on PS5 and PC. The live-service game is the largest launch on PC in PlayStation history. Helldivers 2 is also the fastest-selling PlayStation game ever, selling 12 million copies on PC and PS5 in its first 12 weeks.
With the upcoming Xbox launch, the game’s sales are expected to increase and could pave the way for future live service PlayStation games on Xbox Series S/X.
Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series S/X will support cross-platform play across all platforms. The third-person online shooter will be available in Standard and Super Citizen editions on the Xbox Store, both of which are available for pre-order now. The standard version is priced at $39.99 (Rs. 2,499 in India) and the Super Citizen version is priced at $59.99 (Rs. 3,999 in India). Helldiver 2 will be released on Xbox Series S/X on August 26th.
