SULLIVAN, Mo. — A helicopter crashed into a river at Meramec State Park Thursday afternoon, officials told Fox 2.
Crews were working to rescue the four passengers inside the helicopter when it crashed. Trained swimmers and first responders have been deployed to assist with rescue efforts.
The extent of injuries resulting from the crash is unclear at this time.
Sullivan Fire Protection District Fire Chief Rob Robertson and Sullivan, Missouri Fire Department Chief Corey Rice confirmed to Fox 2 that crews were responding to a helicopter crash at Merammack State Park in Sullivan.

It is believed the helicopter may have struck power lines or other objects before eventually crashing into the Meramec River.
A spokesperson for MSHP told Fox 2 that park rangers were also on scene and believed all passengers had exited the helicopter. The spokesman added that the plane was a private helicopter.
MSHP has dispatched another helicopter to the scene to assist with rescue and response efforts.
