Hawks beat the Mavericks 135-120 for their 11th straight win

DALLAS (AP) — CJ McCollum scored 24 points, Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 22 and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Dallas Mavericks 135-120 on Wednesday night for their 11th straight win.

Dyson Daniels scored 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting, and Jalen Johnson had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks, who are in contention for a playoff spot with a 38-31 record.

Atlanta has not won at least 11 consecutive games since the 2014-2015 season when it set a franchise record of 19 consecutive wins. Their current winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest in club history.

Daniel Gafford, who came off the bench, scored a team-high 24 points, P.J. Washington scored 23 points, and Cooper Flagg scored 17 points.

The Mavericks have now lost 11 of their last 13 games and look destined to enter the draft lottery with a 23-47 record.

Atlanta’s Onyeka Okonkwo scored the game’s first 10 points and the Hawks never trailed. At halftime, the score was 67-56.

The Mavericks committed 18 turnovers, 7 more than the Hawks.

According to Elias Sports, Jonathan Kuminga’s 75-foot basket in the win was the longest shot by a Hawks in the play-by-play era and the sixth-longest shot by any player in the play-by-play era dating to the 1997-98 season. The previous longest shot made by a Hawk was Jason Terry’s 63-footer on January 5, 2000.
