Graves sparks Santa Clara to 76-68 victory over Pacific in a WCC Tournament quarterfinal

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Aaron Graves scored 19 points off the bench and Santa Clara beat Pacific 76-68 in the West Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals on Sunday night.

Third-seeded Santa Clara (25-7) will face second-seeded St. Mary’s in Monday’s semifinals. Fourth-seeded Oregon State will face top-seeded Gonzaga in the other semifinal.

Graves made 7 of 10 three-pointers and two free throws for the Broncos. Christian Hammond scored 14 points and Elijah Mahy had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Substitute Sash Gavalyugov totaled 11 points and six assists.

Elias Ralph hit five 3-pointers and scored 25 points to lead the sixth-seeded Tigers (18-15). Jaden Clayton scored 12 points and nine assists.

Graves hit all five of his first-half field goal attempts, including two 3-pointers, to lead Santa Clara to a 45-38 halftime lead.

Graves hit another three-pointer to start a 12-0 run, and the Broncos led 62-48 with 14 minutes left in the game. The Pacific Ocean is no more than eight o’clock from there.
