Google Maps: How to Search for Places on Your Route

Google Maps is the go-to app for most of us when it comes to finding directions, and the app is also useful for things like hailing taxis. But that’s not the only thing you can do with the app – for example, you can type “restaurant” to get a view of all the restaurants in the area of ​​the map you’re looking at. While this is a very basic tip, Google Maps has another, more useful feature – finding things on your route. This feature has been around for a long time, but we encountered a lot of people who didn’t know about it or how to use it. If you’re included, here’s a quick, easy guide to help you make it work.

The good news is that it works the same way whether you’re searching on an Android or iOS device or viewing a map on the web on a PC. This is what you have to do.

1. The first step is to launch the Google Maps application or point your browser to http://maps.google.com
2. Search for your destination.
3. Tap or click the directions button to generate a route.
4. On your phone, tap Three point menu button and click Add a stop. On your computer, click Plus sign (+) Below the location on the left.
5. Tap or click the added stop and drag it to the middle of the route.
6. Now, search for what you need to add. For example, type “gas pump” and search if you need to fill up your car with gas.
7. You’ll see suggestions for different places that match your search, and you can add any of them to your route. The list even shows if the stop is an express detour.
8. Click on another destination on your PC. On your phone, tap it to see instructions, then tap White location icon Add it to the route.

That’s it, you’re done. You’ll be given an alternative route that involves taking a short detour to find nearby places to find a restaurant on your way home, an ATM on your way to the mall, or a florist on your way to a friend’s house.
