Gimme Him: One player New York Giants would steal from Commanders

The New York Giants (2-11) will take on the Washington Commanders (3-10) in a Week 15 game on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Of course, this opens up the opportunity for those of us on the Giants line to steal from the roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue.

The Commanders looked talented just a season ago, but have fallen off this year. Their talent pool feels noticeably smaller, and several of their stars (namely Zach Ertz) are on injured reserve (IR) and eliminated from this exercise.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels, wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel, linebacker Sam Cosmi, safety Jeremy Reeves, defensive tackle De’Aaron Payne and several other players were considered.

Ultimately, we settled on the controversial Bobby Wagner, a veteran linebacker who is still playing at a Pro Bowl level despite being nearly 36 years old.

The problem with picking Wagner is that he’s a short-term solution for the Giants. He’ll be a quality player alongside Bobby Okereke, but will ultimately give the job to Micah McFadden in 2026 — assuming he doesn’t retire.

Despite this, Wagner still ranks third in the NFL with 131 total tackles, trailing only Devin White and Jordyn Brooks. He also recorded six quarterback hits, three sacks, three passes defensed and two interceptions. In addition to those numbers, Pro Football Focus gave Wagner a run defense grade of 89.7, a rushing grade of 90.8 and a pass rush grade of 88.8.

Each of these grades will overtake the Giants defense and strengthen problem areas.

What do you say, Giants fans? Will you steal Bobby Wagner from Commander, or will you go in a completely different direction?
