Tim Kleindienst’s story is a special one.
The striker has had an extensive career playing in the German Football League, spending most of his career in the Bundesliga 2 as well as Germany’s top flight. However, Kleindienst continues to improve with age and reaches new heights in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons. Kleindienst scored 16 goals for Monchengladbach last season, his highest tally in the Bundesliga.

His performances were so impressive that Julian Nagelsmann not only called him up, but for a short time he became his first-choice forward for the national team. However, his story is not all plain sailing. After reaching his peak, he suffered a major injury last May and has never been fully healthy since.
Despite this, the six-time capped forward remains optimistic about his recovery and remains hopeful of being able to feature in this summer’s World Cup.
However, it wasn’t easy for Kleindienst. In his absence, Walter Mader has clearly emerged as the favored striker under Nagelsmann, while Kai Havertz will soon return as a key player for Arsenal and his inevitable return to the national team. To make matters worse for the Gladbach striker, Denis Ondave is back to his best for Stuttgart. Not to mention, Niklas Feilkruger has moved to AC Milan in order to earn himself a national team nomination.

Through no fault of his own, Kleindienst will be hard-pressed to find his way back into Nagelsmann’s lineup come June. While it’s not impossible, there’s still a big mountain to climb. However, there aren’t many forwards with his pure goal-scoring ability when healthy. Hopefully the Germany and Kleindienst striker can return to the pitch soon and make a full recovery.
