Georgia community mourns the loss of elementary school assistant principal

A “treasured” assistant principal at a Georgia elementary school has died.

The Lee County School System announced the death of Dr. Taylor Williams, assistant principal of Lee County Elementary School.

Dr. Williams joined Lee County Elementary School in June 2025, according to the school’s Facebook page.

“She was more than just an educator and leader, she was a steady source of sunshine and support for students, staff, and families. She was known for her dedication to learning, her belief in the potential of every child and individual, and her commitment to faith and family,” the district wrote in a statement.

Her previous school, Live Oak Elementary School in Albany, described her as a model of excellence.

“She has a passion for student achievement, an unwavering commitment to developing young minds, and an intentional approach to creating a learning environment where every child feels valued and empowered,” they wrote. “Her dedication extends beyond the classroom as she continually seeks to uplift her community through service, encouragement and leadership.”

She leaves behind a husband and four children.

Details about her cause of death have not yet been released.
