Formula 1 returns with the Monaco Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2023 F1 Championship, kicking off the European calendar this season. The F1 racing weekend begins on Friday, May 26 and runs until Sunday, May 28, and includes three practice sessions and qualifying in addition to the main race. Red Bull Racing further extended its lead in the Constructors’ Championship at the last round in Miami, with Aston Martin F1 and Mercedes looking to close the gap.

Max Verstappen had a great performance in the previous round, winning the race from ninth position thanks to excellent tire management and strategy. The Monaco Grand Prix takes place at the Circuit de Monaco, one of Formula One’s oldest and most popular street circuits. It is worth noting that the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix originally scheduled for May 21 had to be canceled due to severe flooding in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy.

F2, F3 and Porsche Supercup support series will also take place at the track over the weekend. Indian drivers Kush Maini and Jean Daruvala are currently ranked fifth and ninth respectively in the 2023 F2 standings. Both will be looking to do well, especially Maini who has been scoring consistently all season.

Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix 2023: What to Expect

Max Verstappen has extended his lead in the 2023 F1 Championship to move ahead of teammate Sergio Perez in the championship thanks to a strong performance at the Miami Grand Prix. Perez, who finished second in the previous round, was 14 points behind the defending drivers’ champion. Interestingly, Fernando Alonso has scored 15 points in each of all five rounds so far in the 2023 season, finishing third with 75 points.

Although Ferrari has performed better in the first two rounds than at the start of the season, the team hopes to use home advantage to improve and catch up with Mercedes and Aston Martin. Monaco is also the home race for Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who is hoping to finally claim his first career home win.
