Former NFL offensive lineman Trey Johnson dies. He is 54 years old.

Johnson’s wife announced his death on Facebook via ESPN.com.

“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that my husband Trey Johnson, died suddenly and unexpectedly …during a brief family trip,” Erin Johnson wrote. “His four children, Chloe, EJ, EZ and Eden, as well as my family, friends and I are shocked and devastated. “

Johnson was drafted by the Wizards in the second round in 1994 and played nine seasons in the NFL. He played his first seven years in Washington and one year with the Browns before returning to Washington in 2002, his final year in the league.

In 1999, Johnson became a professional bowler and was selected to the All-Pro Second Team. He appeared in 93 regular season games, starting 72 of them.
