When the Oregon Ducks secured a commitment from five-star Mookie Cook in their 2022 recruiting class, expectations were high for the in-state product. But the versatile 6-foot-6 wing from Jefferson High School and Prolific Prep never found success with the Ducks, leaving after two seasons for the San Francisco Dons.
According to League Ready’s Sam Kayser, Cook will re-enter the transfer portal and once again look for a new home after spending the 2025-26 season with the Dons.

Coming out of high school, Cook was rated the No. 2 small forward and No. 40 overall player according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. During his senior year of high school, he played with a number of highly ranked players at Prolific Prep in Arizona, eventually becoming the No. 2 player in the state.
Cook’s freshman season at Oregon was slowed by injuries as he played in just five games. He contributed slightly more as a sophomore, but never found his footing under head coach Dana Altman and ended his career with the Ducks averaging just 1.1 points and 0.5 rebounds in 4.6 minutes per game.
After the 2024-25 season, he joined San Francisco, where he became a key substitute player for the Dons with averages of 7.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, shooting 44.4% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range. San Francisco finished 17-16, with Cook scoring a season-high 18 points in the team’s second game of the season.

The former five-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American will now look for a new home with likely two seasons of eligibility left due to injuries he suffered during his freshman year at Oregon.
