Fingerprints used to ID Lafayette driver in Monday’s fatal accident

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Tippecanoe County coroner said fingerprint identification identified Hannah Dowell as the driver killed in a fire Monday morning in a ravine north of Courtland Avenue on the city’s east side.

Dowell, 29, of Lafayette, was driving north on Courtland Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Monday when her SUV drove through Filippo Cacucciolo’s yard on the north end of the street. Her SUV crashed into Caccucciolo’s house, hitting two of Caccucciolo’s garbage trucks and his basketball goal. Her SUV continued north in the shared driveway before exiting the end of the driveway, entering a ravine and crashing into a tree.

Witnesses said the SUV caught fire and Lafayette firefighters put it out.
