Nikesh Mistry, 34, from Milton Keynes, has been jailed for almost five years after his aggressive behavior caused a motorcyclist to be thrown from a bridge. The incident, described by authorities as an “extreme” incident of road rage, occurred on November 19, 2022, near Walton Roundabout in Milton Keynes.

Mistry, who was driving a silver BMW, got into a dangerous altercation with a motorcyclist, aged in his 40s, in what police described as a “non-verbal exchange”. The situation quickly escalated when Mistry tried to force him off the road by swerving on the motorcycle. In order to avoid a collision, both sides ended up going the wrong way.

The conflict came to a head when Mistry trapped the motorcyclist between his vehicle and a metal barrier, leading to a collision with an oncoming car. The impact sent the motorcyclist flying off the bridge and into the bush below, causing serious injuries. He was subsequently airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for emergency medical treatment. In addition, the front seat passenger of the car involved was also seriously injured and required hospitalization.
Shocking video footage captured the collision and the motorcyclist’s subsequent airborne trajectory, highlighting the serious consequences of Mistry’s actions. In December that year, Mistry pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Aylesbury Crown Court sentenced him to four years and 10 months in prison. In addition, Mistry was disqualified from driving for the same period and was required to pass an extended retest to regain his driving licence.

The investigating officer, Sergeant Phil McGrew of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This case is an extreme example of road rage.” He stressed that Mistry’s decision to respond with disproportionate violence turned a disagreement on the road into a serious attack. “Drivers who engage in this behavior will be rigorously investigated and held accountable for their actions,” McGrew added, stressing the consequences of such reckless behavior on public roads.
