A former Louisiana mayor is on trial after prosecutors allege her teenage son caught her having sex with one of his 16-year-old friends at a boozy pool party.
Former Derided Mayor Misty Roberts, 43, faces charges of having sex with a teenager and engaging in indecent conduct with a teenager, according to KPLC. She has pleaded not guilty.
Roberts’ second trial is underway, after the first case was mistrialed due to judicial issues in nearby Beauregard Parish, the outlet reported.
The charges stem from a late-night party at Roberts’ home in 2024.

Last week, Roberts’ children and her ex-husband testified at her trial, and the party was attended by DoorDash drivers, family friends and multiple teenagers, according to KPLC.
Jurors watched a video of an interview with Roberts’ son filmed last year, in which the teen reportedly told authorities he witnessed his mother having sex with his friend through a crack in a window during a party.

However, during a court appearance last week, the teen reportedly told jurors he wasn’t sure exactly what he saw that night.
Roberts’ defense attorneys disputed the recording and told jurors parts of the interview may have been improperly transcribed.

The jury also saw text messages between mother and son discussing what type of alcohol the teenagers wanted to drink at the party.
In another exchange, Roberts’ son warned her of the victim’s age, texting her, “He’s seventeen,” the outlet reported. The victim was 16 when the incident allegedly occurred.
Other text messages from the night of the party show Roberts’ son calling the situation “crazy” and telling her his sister was emotional.
Roberts’ daughter took the stand and told the court she witnessed her mother and the victim “on top of each other” the night of the party,” KPLC reported.

After the alleged encounter, prosecutors said the victim’s mother reportedly texted Roberts to confirm she was not pregnant.
Roberts responded that she was on birth control and later screenshotted the messages and sent them in a separate group chat, along with the suggestion that she take an emergency contraceptive called “Plan B.”
Jurors also reportedly heard testimony from a DoorDash driver who testified that he fulfilled “Misty C’s” orders to buy emergency contraceptive pills and leave them at the front door of his home.
The driver added that he later heard rumors about the incident and believed his delivery was related to it.

Roberts’ nephew also testified that he tried to use a cell phone camera to see what was going on in the room during the party but was unsure if he recorded any footage and that nothing was sent to anyone after the alleged encounter, the outlet reported.
The nephew also admitted that he deleted his Snapchat memories before investigators seized his phone because he didn’t want to get in trouble for photos of underage drinking, adding that he had no plans to delete the evidence.
Another member of the victim’s friend group also told jurors he witnessed Roberts flirting with the victim the night of the party, KPLC reported, while revealing the boy appeared to be drunk and vomited later that night.
On Saturday, Roberts’ ex-husband Duncan Clanton reportedly testified that Roberts admitted to having sex with the teenage boy and that the couple’s children caught them in the act.

Jurors also saw text messages between the married couple, in which Clanton told Roberts, “If anyone approached you at the meeting, I would deny what happened” on the day of the city council meeting.
In another exchange, Clanton reportedly testified that Roberts texted him, “I need you to deny this, please.”
Clanton added that while he refused to deny the allegations, he avoided talking about the incident.
“I can’t keep hurting people, friends and family. God knows I’ve done enough,” Roberts texted Clanton, KPLC reported.
During cross-examination, when Roberts’ defense attorney asked Clanton if he thought Roberts was a good mother, Clanton’s father reportedly replied, “No.”

Roberts resigned as mayor days before his arrest in 2024. Initially, Clanton was banned from contact with the children without his permission, and the court revoked child support.
Roberts’ defense attorney did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
