Euro 2020 is coming – 2021. Thank you, COVID-19. You’d think they would change it to “Euro 2021”, but that’s not the case and UEFA – the European football body that organizes the tournament – is sticking with the Euro 2020 branding. Euro 2020 has been postponed for a full year due to the pandemic and will now be held from Friday, June 11 to Sunday, July 11. This is a month-long football festival. But Euro 2020 is very different from previous Euros, for more reasons than one. There is no single or co-host here. Instead, Euro 2020 will be held in 11 cities in 11 countries. Additionally, Euro 2020 comes amid an intense club football season – thanks again to COVID-19 – making fatigue a key word for the tournament. The winner of Euro 2020 is not necessarily the best team, but the last one.
2020 European Cup schedule
The 16th European Cup is divided into two main parts: the group stage, in which each team plays three games to determine the winner based on points, followed by four rounds of knockout rounds, culminating in the 2020 European Cup finals.
The Euro 2020 group stages will begin on Friday, June 11, and end on Wednesday, June 23. During this period, 24 teams will play a total of 36 games.
This will take us to the first knockout stage, the last 16 of Euro 2020 from Sunday 27th to Tuesday 29th June. The winners will advance to the Euro 2020 quarter-finals on Friday, July 2 and Saturday, July 3. All that remains is the Euro 2020 semi-finals on Tuesday, July 6 and Wednesday, July 7.
The Euro 2020 final is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 11 at Wembley Stadium in London.
