Episcopal soccer makes history, advances to state semifinal undefeated

The Episcopal football team went undefeated all the way to the Final Four.

The undefeated Eagles defeated visiting Williston 3-0 on Feb. 13 at Jangro Stadium to clinch the Florida High School Athletic Association Region 1-2A boys soccer championship.

Robert Adams continued to set the playoff scoring record for the Eagles, and Cade Cummings and Charlie DeVooght also scored for Episcopal (21-0-3).

Goaltender Drew Monty kept Williston (14-4-5) at bay all night, saving three shots behind closed doors.

Episcopal advanced to the state semifinals for the first time since 2010 and will play in the state semifinals on Feb. 17 at Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale.

Zone 1-1A

Christian’s best season ever ended in heartbreaking fashion in the regional finals, being eliminated 3-2 by Rocky Bayou Christian in a penalty shootout after going 1-1 in regulation and overtime.

UC (17-2-4) is the top seed in the region and has never qualified for the FHSAA regionals before.

Rocky Bayou Christian (12-6-3) advances to the state semifinals on Feb. 17.
