The Philadelphia Eagles have lost passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Christian Parker. Not ideal.
To make matters worse, he will be joining the Dallas Cowboys as their new defensive coordinator. That’s according to a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

We know this outcome is possible; Parker recently interviewed in Washington, D.C., from Dallas and the Green Bay Packers. Indeed, he attracted interest from the New Orleans Saints last year, and the Eagles are lucky to retain him in 2025.
Losing Parker was probably inevitable. Losing him to a division rival isn’t much fun. Unless he’s proven to be a double agent, I wouldn’t count on that.
We’ve talked about Parker’s value before:
Parker, 34, has a proven track record of getting the best out of players. He notably oversaw the development of Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos before coming to Philadelphia and coaching Quinnion Mitchell and Cooper DeJean to All-Pro status in their second seasons.
The Eagles have been one of the best defenses in the NFL since they hired him and Vic Fangio in the 2024 offseason. The team may want to keep him, especially since he could one day be Fangio’s successor. But it’s possible, if not entirely likely, that Parker will be poached before that happens.
Parker may be a good position coach, but not a good defensive coordinator. Dallas was a disastrous team in 2025 under Matt Eberflus and has a long way to go in rebuilding their talent with the ball.

But if Parker helps the Cowboys turn things around dramatically, the Eagles will be furious.
Regardless, it remains to be seen how the Jays will replace Parker. They currently have a cornerbacks coach in Roy Anderson and a safeties coach in Joe Kasper. Will there be internal promotions, or will they seek external hires? If backfilling is required, maybe a combination of both? We’ll see.
