Dyche sacked by Forest after dismal Wolves draw

Nottingham Forest sacked manager Sean Dyche on Wednesday after a heavy defeat at Wolves left them hovering in the Premier League relegation zone.

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach,” the club said in a statement to X.

“We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them all the best for the future.”

Forest drew 0-0 at home with the bottom-ranked Wolves, only 3 points away from the bottom three teams.

After Wednesday’s standoff ended, a gloomy Dyche admitted his job was in jeopardy and unstable boss Evangelos Marinakis may well decide to wield the axe.

Marinakis, who has already sacked Nuno Espirito Santo and Angie Postecoglou this season, ran out of patience again after Forest failed to score despite taking 35 shots.

Dyche’s side were booed at the final whistle.

Dyche said he was a “realist” about his precarious situation and spoke like a resigned manager.

“The owners have been fair to me, no question about it,” he said. “If someone chooses to change football now, that’s their decision. We’ve all seen it,” he said.

“If the boss wants to make changes it’s up to him, that’s football now, that’s the reality.

“He was absolutely fair to me from start to finish, and I was fair to him, telling him the truth every step of the way.”

Forest thrived under Nuno last season and secured a Europa League spot, but the Portuguese coach was sacked amid a dispute with Marinakis over transfers.
