“Dune: Awakening,” the survival game based on Frank Herbert’s “Dune,” has sold more than 1 million copies, developer Funcom announced Monday. The studio confirmed that the game is now the fastest-selling game of all time. Dune: Awakening launched on PC via Steam earlier this month to critical acclaim. The game is set on the desert planet of Arrakis, and players must survive in the harsh conditions of a multiplayer open world.
“Dune Awakening” sales exceed 1 million copies
Funcom announced the sales milestone on the game’s website and shared an infographic detailing gamer statistics.
“Dune: Awakening launched on June 10 and has already reached 1,000,000 players! It is now Funcom’s fastest-selling game ever,” the studio said. “To put it into perspective, it took Conan Exiles a year to reach this number. We are truly humbled and grateful for this reception.”

Dune Awakening on Steam
Dune: Awakening has also maintained a respectable number of concurrent players on Steam since its release. The survival game has reached an all-time high on the Valve platform with nearly 190,000 players, according to SteamDB rankings. As of this writing, it’s one of the top 10 most popular games on Steam in the past 24 hours.
In an open letter to players on Monday, Funcom also confirmed that Dune: Awakening will continue to evolve to allow PvE players to experience the final game content without any barriers. The studio says players will be able to progress through the game’s shared open world without unnecessary conflicts and PvP requirements.

Dune Awakening was released on Steam on June 10th. This multiplayer survival game brings players to Arrakis to brave the harsh environment, deadly threats, and sandworms with other players in a shared open world. Dune: Awakening is scheduled to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in 2026.
