“None of these jobs are truly solitary, but they are independence-focused jobs,” says Eva Chan, career expert at Resume Genius. “They do require some collaboration, but the work is fairly structured.”

The best jobs for introverts tend to be high-risk, high-responsibility jobs that require relatively little social skills and the ability to perform in meetings, Chen said.

“People don’t judge you based on your social skills,” she said. “Essentially, we evaluate you based on what you deliver.”

Chen says the jobs listed below offer competitive salaries and prove that “a great salary doesn’t require a great personality.”

Remote work is an obvious choice for introverts, and many of the jobs listed here can be performed remotely. But remember, remote work opportunities come and go, and even remote workers must meet occasionally.

So, here are 10 high-paying jobs for introverts.

software developer

The median annual salary for this position is $131,450, according to 2024 data from the Department of Labor. The top 10 percent earn an annual salary of $211,450. There are nearly 2 million jobs nationwide and employment growth is healthy.

“Their job includes writing and testing new code, patiently finding and fixing elusive bugs, and working with designers or engineers to ensure the final product works as expected,” Resume Genius reports.

This job is good for introverts because it requires long periods of independent work.

actuary

These workers use mathematics and statistics to assess risk, such as measuring the probability of an accident on an insurance policy.

The median annual salary is $125,770, with top earners earning $206,430. Job growth is healthy.

It’s a great job for introverts because “much of your time will be spent working alone with complex data and numbers,” Resume Genius reports.

data scientist

These workers analyze and manipulate data to provide insights to the company, such as identifying trends, often to improve products or improve performance.

The median annual salary is $112,590, with the top 10% earning $194,410. There are 245,900 data scientists nationwide, with strong job growth.

Resume Genius reports that as a data scientist, “you’ll get lots of quiet time to focus on coding and problem solving.”

According to Resume Genius, the job combines a lot of independent labor with “brief, planned team meetings,” making it a great habitat for introverts.

This is a good job for introverts because the focus is on delivering well-crafted written reports. You don’t need to prove yourself in meetings.
