Donovan Mitchell will miss the Cleveland Cavaliers’ big game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday. According to the NBA injury report, Mitchell will miss the game with a groin issue.
Additionally, James Harden is listed as doubtful with a fractured right thumb. Also questionable in the report are Keon Ellis (fractured left index finger), Dennis Schroder (sprained ankle) and Dean Wade (sprained ankle).

The Cavaliers (37-23) are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference, 7.5 games behind the NBA’s best Pistons (43-14).

Mitchell also missed Wednesday’s 118-116 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, the second of a back-to-back following Tuesday’s 109-94 win over the New York Knicks. He played 55 games for the Cavaliers this season, averaging 28.5 points (seventh in the league), 4.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists. He made 517 three-pointers and shot 37%, leading the league.
Cleveland comes into Friday’s game having won 15 of its past 20 games. The Cavaliers haven’t lost two games in a row since December 25-27, losing to the Knicks and Rockets.

Since being acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers at the NBA trade deadline, Harden has played in 7 games, averaging 18.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 8 assists per game. He shot 49% from 41 three-point range. Overall, Harden has played in 51 games this season, 44 of which came with the Los Angeles Clippers. Since he joined, the Cavaliers have achieved a record of 6 wins and 2 losses.

Evan Mobley missed Wednesday’s game with a left calf injury and was not listed on the injury report. He is Cleveland’s third leading scorer this season, averaging 17.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.8 blocks per game.

As of Thursday, the Pistons had a clean injury report. Isaiah Stewart is serving his sixth game on a seven-game suspension for leaving the bench during Detroit’s Feb. 11 game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Detroit has also won 15 of its past 20 games.
