Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani appears in a new commercial for Dunlop Tires, a brand owned and produced by Japan’s Sumitomo Rubber Industries.
The ad promotes Dunlop Synchronized Weather tires, which feature an “active tread,” meaning it adjusts and adapts to a variety of weather and road conditions.
Ohtani signed an advertising contract with Dunlop in 2024 and made his debut in a July 2024 commercial featuring a CGI depiction of Babe Ruth.

Since joining Major League Baseball, Ohtani has partnered with companies in Japan and the United States, proving those who doubted his marketability wrong. According to Sportico, Ohtani will earn an estimated $100 million from his brand deals in 2025. Last year, his endorsements made him more than any other athlete in the world, including the likes of LeBron James ($85 million) and Lionel Messi ($70 million).
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Roger Federer and Tiger Woods are the only other athletes to reach the $100 million mark.

How did Shohei Otani attract so many brand deals?
With Ohtani’s global reach, he will naturally receive a large number of offers for brand deals, especially from Japanese companies.

No one in Major League Baseball (MLB) can match Ohtani’s abilities as a top-notch two-way player. He won two World Series, four MVP awards, four Silver Slugger Awards and an NLCS MVP while being selected to the All-Star Game five times. He has hit 50 or more homers in each of the past two seasons and has an OPS above 1.000 in each of the past three seasons.
He also returned from a lengthy rehab period following Tommy John surgery with the Los Angeles Angels in 2023 and returned to the mound. In 2025, he made 14 appearances and pitched 47 innings with a 2.87 ERA.
The star has been an integral part of the Dodgers’ success and will continue to win trophies in the 2026 season, helping the Dodgers pursue their first three-peat in franchise history.
