Dodgers minor league field in Ontario will be ready for opening day, officials say

A ballpark under construction in Ontario will soon welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers’ newly designated Class A minor league affiliate.

The general manager of the Ontario Tower Buzzers said ONT Stadium is nearing completion and will be ready for Opening Day on April 2, 2026.

“The City of Ontario wanted to make some bold moves,” general manager Alan Benavidez said. “They built arguably the best minor league stadium in the country, regardless of level.”

Benavidez recently gave Eyewitness News an exclusive update on the stadium’s progress, including a high-tech locker room for the home team and an on-field suite located next to the home team’s dugout.

“These lounge suites are very unique. I’ve never seen them in minor league baseball,” he said.

The stadium will have approximately 6,000 seats, and spectators will pay $5 per ticket to watch the game.

Ontario city officials say the facility will not only attract tourists but also provide entertainment for local residents.

“We already have so many amenities in Ontario,” said Jennifer Hiramoto, executive director of economic development for the City of Ontario. “We have the international airport, we have Ontario Mills, we have Toyota Arena.”

“This is just another feather in our cap,” she added.

Not only does ONT Field pay homage to the nearby international airport, its gates are named after words like “Arrival” and “Boarding.”

But the video board and outfield walls are also designed to reflect what baseball fans will see at Dodger Stadium in Elysium Park.

“The Ontario Airport is two miles behind the video board,” Benavidez said. “We had an incredible view of the San Gabriel Mountains. It was incredible.”

Hiramoto said it took the city of Ontario several years to form a partnership with the Dodgers and build the stadium, but she said the end is in sight.

“Ontario is positioning itself as the home of Dodge affiliates,” Hiramoto said. “All we need to do is buy 200 acres of land, sign a contract with a team, build a stadium and all the supporting infrastructure and have it completed by April 2026…and here we are. We did it.”
