When the Los Angeles Dodgers want someone, they find a way to make it happen. This is how Andrew Friedman works.

Reports emerged earlier this offseason that the Dodgers were interested in trading Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, a move that could derail baseball. Skubal is either the best pitcher in the world or the second-best pitcher in the world, depending on how one views Paul Skenes.
On the surface, the Skubal trade still feels unrealistic. The Tigers may have to trade him at some point, but unless the Dodgers have the best offer, there’s not much reason to consider it. However, they actually have the prospects needed to make a deal and the financial flexibility to re-sign him (although Scott Boras’ client won’t accept a pre-free agency deal).
“The whole thing still sounds like a long shot — as does any chance of trading Peralta or the Detroit Tigers’ Tarik Skubal — but with Friedman hanging around the plate, it’s best to be wary,” he wrote.
If Detroit’s mentality changes, or the asking price drops, Los Angeles is one of the few teams that can achieve something.
