ESPN has canceled its ESPN3 streaming service and all of its content will be moved to the sports network’s other existing platforms, including ESPN+ and ESPN Unlimited.
ESPN3 launched in 2005, initially as ESPN360.com, replacing ESPN Broadband. In 2007, ESPN360.com relaunched as a live sports streaming service, offering more than 2,500 events annually.

In 2010, it was renamed ESPN3.com. It’s also launching on Xbox Live Gold ahead of WatchESPN, which will debut in 2011. Following the launch of WatchESPN, ESPN3.com will be renamed ESPN3 to indicate that it belongs next to ESPN and ESPN2 in the linear network lineup.
Over the next few years, ESPN added TVE Live to the ESPN app, launching ESPN+ in 2018, Sunset WatchESPN in 2019, ESPN+ on Hulu in 2021, ESPN+ on Disney+ in 2024, and ESPN Unlimited in August.
ESPN3 has broadcast more than 100,000 events, with a peak of 73 live events at the same time, and peak distribution coverage of 100 million households.
The service has seen double-digit annual growth in streaming activity for nearly a decade. Breakthroughs for the service include nearly 1 billion live minutes during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
