Curry scores 31 points in return from one-game absence with ankle injury, Warriors beat Jazz 123-114

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Stephen Curry scored 31 points with six 3-pointers and the Golden State Warriors welcomed their regulars back to beat the Utah Jazz 123-114 on Saturday, a night after the Thunder poured out 37 points while shorthanded.

Curry scored 20 points on 6-of-7 shooting in the third quarter, hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 7:01 left in the quarter, and added another 3-pointer in the next game.

Lauri Markkanen scored 21 of his 35 points on 9-of-12 shooting in the first half. With Jusuf Nurkic missing his second straight game with a sprained left toe, Keyonte George had 22 points and nine assists for the Jazz. Utah has lost three straight and seven of nine games.

Curry missed one game due to a sprained left ankle and Jimmy Butler missed due to illness. He contributed 15 points and 7 assists to help the team lose to defending champion Oklahoma City 131-94.

Draymond Green also rested on Friday, but was ejected for an argument with a referee with 2:25 left in the second quarter.

Green apparently thought there should have been a three-second penalty, the second time in the past four home games that he’s been hit with a penalty.

Also during this time, he left the bench after a heated argument with head coach Steve Kerr during a third-quarter timeout against Orlando on Dec. 22 and headed to the locker room alone to cool off. Both men later apologized.

Green has nine technical fouls this season and will be automatically suspended for one game after reaching 16 points. He scored 8 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 12 minutes of playing time.

The Warriors won’t be happy about 15 turnovers that allowed the Jazz to score 22 points. Taking care of the ball has been a constant focus for us.
