Kenya has put to rest doubts over its ability to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027) with Uganda and Tanzania.
Responding to criticism over the poor state of road infrastructure and delays in stadium construction, Kenya’s Secretary of State for Youth, Creative Economy and Sports Salim Mwuria invited the Confederation of African Football (CAF)’s inspection committee to Kenya to assess the progress made by the organizing committee.

“We decided to invite CAF as early as possible so that they can review progress with us and provide advice while the contractors are still on site, allowing us to incorporate their input into the construction process,” Kenya’s secretary of state said in a statement to kenyans.com.
He added: “We have also reviewed the progress of seven other key projects, all in advanced stages of construction, which will be critical to the success of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. We have firmly implemented a whole-of-government approach to ensure we are fully prepared as we embark on preparations with CAF in the near future.”
As a reminder, the 36th African Cup of Nations will be held from June 19, 2027 to July 18, 2027.
