“Completely wide of mark” – Fabrizio Romano shuts down Chelsea transfer rumour

Fabrizio Romano says reports linking Chelsea with a move for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior are untrue.

The Blues invested heavily in the squad last summer and signed five new attacking players while overhauling the front line.

The January transfer window is open and Chelsea are inevitably being linked with players, but it’s expected to be a quiet month for the Blues.

Chelsea will not sign Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior

Chelsea supporters will want to see the squad strengthened in January, especially given it will be another Champions League qualification battle.

The Blues have been linked with a number of young stars including Keith Smits and Daryl Bakola, with some future players likely to arrive this month.

David Ornstein doesn’t think Chelsea will do much this month despite reports linking them with a move for Vinicius Junior.

The Brazil international would clearly be a great addition to the squad, but Romano has moved to shut down those reports.

He said on X.com:

“Reports about Vinicius Junior and Chelsea make absolutely no sense

“No talks, no bids, no talks. Vinny remains completely focused on Real Madrid and the contract situation is yet to be assessed.”

Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha will join in the summer

Although the transfer of Vinicius Junior has not yet happened, the Blues already have two new attackers ready to join in the summer.

Giovanni Kunda and Emmanuel Emerga will both arrive from Sporting Lisbon and Strasbourg respectively and are expected to step straight into the first-team squad.

Kunda will provide another option on the wing, while Emerga will provide Chelsea with another option up front, and it will be interesting to see how they fit into the team.
