Reports on Wednesday suggested that Como is considering a summer move for Juventus’ Andrea Cambiasso as Cesc Fabregas’ side need more Italian talent to comply with UEFA’s roster rules.
Como have confirmed they will compete in some form of European competition in 2026-27 and are guaranteed to finish no worse than sixth in Serie A this season, although it remains to be seen whether they secure a Champions League, Europa League or divisional league spot next season.

Ahead of their first European campaign, Como may need to bring in more homegrown Italian players to comply with UEFA’s roster rules.
UEFA rules stipulate that teams can submit a squad of up to 25 players on the “A” list, at least eight of whom must be locally trained, that is, homegrown players.
However, Como have barely fielded any Italian players in 2025-26; their most notable homegrown talent is 32-year-old Edoardo Goldaniga, who has played just 104 minutes this season.
Como president Mirvan Suisso recently admitted that the club wants to add more Italian talent to its ranks: “We are always looking for more Italians. We bought four Italians in our first Serie A season,” he said in a recent interview.

“The problem is that they are expensive and we can’t pay them in installments. We are developing four or five Italian players and hope they will be ready for the first team. I like a lot of them, Orsolini, Bastoni, Di Marco, but we can’t afford them. Venturino is also very strong, like Cambiagi and Lazio’s Pellegrini.”
Could Como sign Cambiaso from Juventus?
Como is interested in a potential move for Juventus’ Cambiasso, although it is not expected to be an easy deal to complete, Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Wednesday.

Como likes Cambiaso’s versatility, being able to play both full-back and full-back positions, and believes that despite being 26 years old, he is an experienced option in both Serie A and the Champions League.
However, the Italy international is a regular starter under former Juventus center Luciano Spalletti, who, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, has not factored the possibility of selling Cambiaso into his plans for next season.
However, Como hopes that the coach and the club will have a different opinion. Juventus are expected to have a busy summer transfer window in order to provide Spalletti with a squad capable of competing for the Serie A title in 2026-27, but this means that some existing players may need to be sold in order to fund new acquisitions.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, no one other than Kenan Yildiz is considered truly “untransferable” if Juventus receive the right offer. Juventus are also more likely to consider selling if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Cambiasso is not the only Italian player Como has his eye on. “Gazzetta dello Sport” stated that the above-mentioned Cambiagi may become the target of a transfer fee of 15 million euros. “Pink Book” claims that it is unrealistic for Como to offer less than double the price for Cambiaso.
