The Indianapolis Colts are entering a tricky offseason at the quarterback position.

Daniel Jones finally looks like the answer at quarterback, who is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. Anthony Richardson could be a trade candidate. They also have sixth-rounder Riley Leonard coming off a rookie season.
A lot will depend on whether Jones is ready to play in Week 1.
But as it turns out, the Colts already feel pretty secure with Jones’ help anyway.
“No matter what, barring a shocking turn of events, Jones will be the Colts’ starting quarterback in 2026,” ESPN’s Stephen Holder wrote in a new article on Monday.
In that article, Holder breaks down all the tricky parts of the equation, from Richardson’s injury to the fact that Jones is a free agent and needs some kind of new contract, now complicated by an Achilles issue.

But that’s how he ended up. The Colts seem to have no doubt who their quarterback is.
It remains to be seen whether Jones will be ready for Week 1, so they may have to figure out the best stopgap solution.
Still, Jones appears to be getting some strong reassurances from the Colts’ stance. It can be scary going through such a big injury rehab process and not even knowing what to expect when you come back.
But Jones knew he was the best option for the Colts. It’s up to him to get back on the field and continue to perform at the level he knows he’s capable of.
