Co-host Sri Lanka wins toss and bowls in must-win T20 World Cup game against New Zealand

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl during their Cricket T20 World Cup Super 8 match against New Zealand on Wednesday.

For hosts Sri Lanka, who lost to England in their Group 2 opener, this match is a must-win to have any hope of reaching the semi-finals.

England have four points and are the only team to reach the semi-finals after defeating Pakistan on Tuesday, taking two wins from two Group II games.

New Zealand and Pakistan, whose match was called off due to rain, were awarded one point each.

Sri Lanka dropped opener Kamil Mishara and recalled experienced Charith Asalanka. New Zealand ruled out Jimmy Neesham and brought in Cole McConchie.
