Jennings added, “I don’t think he should have said anything. I’m not surprised that Donald Trump didn’t have anything nice to say about Mr. Lehner. Lehner is one of his most vocal critics and, you know, he’s been saying for basically a decade that he should go to jail, calling him a fascist.”
“The right answer here, and the advice I give, is to keep it in your pocket,” he continued. “You can have opinions and feelings about other people, but in this particular case, someone was brutally murdered.”
He went on to say that “thousands of liberals celebrated” Kirk’s murder. “They’re not supposed to do it either,” he said, “so, you know, putting it in your pocket is the right thing to do in this particular situation.”
