Tiffin, Ohio — First Brands Group, LLC will permanently close its TMD Tiffin manufacturing facility and eliminate 407 jobs on April 30, 2026, according to a WARN Act notice filed with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services on Friday.
The facility is located at 1441 N. Maule Road. The Tiffin plant will be completely closed on April 30, with all 407 employees losing their jobs. The company called the move a permanent closure. The filing marks one of the largest recent unemployment cases in Seneca County.
Cleveland-based First Brands Group is currently operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In its notice, the company cited severe financial difficulties and said it had explored options to avoid closing the plant. Those efforts include seeking outside funding and trying to sell the Tiffin plant.
“The company has made every effort to maintain its operations,” the notice said. “However, amid all of these circumstances, the company has now made the difficult decision to close the facility.”
The workforce includes a range of positions, from production roles such as press operators and production operators to engineers, quality control personnel, maintenance personnel and administrative staff. Some of these workers are represented by the 2021 United Auto Workers local.
Local and state officials were notified, including Tiffin Mayor Lee Wilkinson and Seneca County Commission Chairman Anthony Paradiso, as required by federal and state law.
Displaced workers are encouraged to contact the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for assistance with unemployment benefits, job placement services and retraining programs. For more information, visit jfs.ohio.gov or call 877-644-6562.
