Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints appoints 14 men to council, including ‘Chosen’ producer and popular YouTuber

Salt Lake City(ABC4) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that they have appointed 14 men to the General Council of Youth. Among those appointed are several faith-based YouTubers and the co-creator of the TV series “The Chosen.”

According to the church, the youth organization provides guidelines, church instructions and activities for all young men in the church, ages 12 to 18. The General Youth Presidency, composed of two counselors and a president, “provides counsel, encouragement, and direction to the bishopric, who lead, teach, and support the young people in their congregations and mentor local youth organizations.”

The General Youth Council, including the recently appointed Council of Governors, assists the General Youth Presidency in the discharge of its responsibilities.

Fourteen individuals from Utah have been appointed to the committee, bringing a wide range of experience. Two of them have faith-based YouTube channels. In addition, one of them founded and participated in the production of the religious TV series The Chosen, and many have served in various roles in the church.

ABC4 compiled information about the new appointees and their educational and professional backgrounds based on public information and biographies From the church. It is worth noting that this does not include their previous religious services, which can be done at the church’s website.

Luke J. Nichols in Alaska: Nichols holds a degree in political science and a J.D. from Brigham Young University and previously practiced criminal defense law as managing partner of Nichols & Green PLLC in Virginia. According to 2021 social media posts Originally from Nichols, he is also the founder of Outdoor Boys, a popular YouTube channel with over 18 million subscribers. Notably, he uploaded a farewell video to the YouTube channel earlier this year but has continued to upload videos.

Agbor Agbor In Salt Lake County: Agbo graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in marketing. He currently serves as president of Utah Water System LLC.

Delal E. Eves in hurricane: Eaves is a graduate of Southern Utah University. He is co-creator and executive producer of The Chosen and CEO of Creatus. According to their website, Creatus is a marketing company that has worked with businesses and creators ranging from Google to Mr. Beast. Within the Church, he has served as elders quorum president, bishopric counselor, bishop, stake presidency counselor, and full-time missionary.

Rogelio Osuna of Herriman: Osuna holds a degree in business management from Brigham Young University and previously worked at Goldman Sachs. Now he works in the Church’s missionary ministry, helping to develop missionary training centers around the world.

Daniel E. Mendoza García in Santa Claus: After earning an associate’s degree in industrial engineering, García worked for different companies in the production industry. He has served as a counselor in three mission presidencies, a high counselor, a counselor in a stake Young Men presidency, a bishop, and a counselor in a bishopric.

John Hilton III in Orem: Hilton previously received a master’s degree from Harvard University and a doctorate in education from Brigham Young University. He is a professor of religious education at Brigham Young University and the author of several books and online courses on religion.

Walter G. Queiroz Jr. in the highlands, The younger Queiroz has an accounting degree and currently manages a mining company in Brazil and a commercial cleaning company in Utah.

Richard P. Kafusi in Salt Lake County: Kaufusi holds degrees in education and English from Utah Tech (formerly Dixie College), Brigham Young University and UofU. He has served on several educational and executive committees, including at Primary Children’s Hospital. Kaufusi now works in manufacturing at Wolfgramm Capital.

G. Sheldon Martin in West Haven: Martin holds degrees in political science, mental health counseling and behavioral health from Arizona State University. He has been with the church for 21 years and currently serves as Director of Member Insights for Priesthood and Family Ministries.

Anthony R. Sweet In Springville: Sweat holds a painting degree from UofU and an education degree from USU. He has worked in the church education system and is now chairman of the Department of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University.

Steve K. Mutombo in Lehi: Mutombo holds a degree in information technology, a graduate diploma in business administration, and a master’s degree in public administration (majoring in finance and information systems). He currently works as a financial advisor for a consulting firm and previously worked for churches as a buyer and fleet manager, travel director and regional support services manager.

Clinton E. Udy, Eagle Mountain: Udy, a graduate of Idaho State University and USU, now serves as the regional director of the seminary and religious institute department at the church.

Parker Aaron Walbeck in Lehi: Walbeck teaches video production and social media marketing through online courses and the YouTube channel Full-Time Filmmaker, which has over 2 million subscribers. Additionally, he runs a faith-based YouTube channel called True Millennial.

Kazuhiko Yamashita in Provo: Yamashita holds a degree in education and sports science and also studied physical education and sport philosophy. He currently teaches and serves as internship coordinator at Brigham Young University.
