A cryptocurrency investor has donated 9 million pounds ($12 million) to Britain’s Reform Party, according to documents filed by the Electoral Commission on Thursday.
According to the Financial Times, Thai entrepreneur Christopher Harborne invested in stablecoin issuer Tether and cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex. His donation was described by many media as the largest single donation to a British political party by a living person. The outright record £10m was Lord John Sainsbury’s donation to the Conservative Party in his will in 2022.
Harbourne previously donated to Nigel Farage’s Reform Party (then known as the Brexit Party) in 2019, and has also donated to the Conservative Party over the years.
The donation means the Reform Party received more donations than any other UK party in the third quarter of 2025.
Nigel Farage, whose party has led the polls for much of the year, has sought to bolster his cause by accepting cryptocurrency donations and vowing to build one bitcoin Retain if government is elected.
Harborn’s donation was in cash, not cryptocurrency.
