Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first setback in the Patrick Mahomes era, finishing 6-11 and missing the playoffs, shocking the NFL world.

This is so jarring.
But after enduring this long, the Chiefs will eventually return to reality. However, the Chiefs made some great moves this offseason.
They signed key position players (Kenneth Walker) and traded away some key players, but in exchange for big draft capital (now have two first-round picks).
Because of this, CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell believes the Chiefs could be back in the Super Bowl standings soon, as the team received a huge return by trading for Trent McDuffie.
“The last time the Chiefs got a return like this, when they traded wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, it helped replenish a roster that would win two more Super Bowls. They also added Fields to serve as backup insurance for Patrick Mahomes,” Podell wrote.

“Elsewhere the defense will be filled with fresh faces like McDuffie, Watson, Williams, Cook and Chenauer. But if they knock two first-round picks out of the park in the upcoming draft, the Chiefs will be back to true contention in no time.”

Chiefs resume AFC horror scenario
The Chiefs have been a top predator in the AFC since Mahomes started, appearing in at least one AFC game every year. But last season, the Chiefs finally got someone else on the field.
This is someone else’s chance to win.

But now, after they hit free agency, the idea that the Chiefs could have another “down” year may have to be put on the back burner.
There was a season in the AFC where Mahomes did not cast a huge shadow over the entire league.
As it turns out, all the AFC might get is a one-year reprieve.
