During his first court appearance in Provo, Utah, Robinson appeared calm and even shared a brief laugh with his attorney. But, according to lip-reading analysis by Lip Reader Limited, his private comments were much darker.
“I think about the shooting every day,” Robinson appeared to tell his attorney before the hearing began. “Every morning… all the time.”
He then appeared to mention Erika Kirk, who now raises the couple’s two young children alone, according to lip readers.
“So, he has a wife…” the suspected shooter said at this time. Robinson also allegedly spoke about his mental state in prison, saying he “smoked a lot” and struggled with sleepless nights.

Robinson turned himself in to authorities following a statewide search. His parents recognized him from surveillance images released by police and convinced him to turn himself in, according to court documents.
The next day, Robinson, his parents and a family friend arrived at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, where he was taken into custody.
