CAN 2025: “Don’t forget that we are Mali,” says Mamadou Sangaré

In a recent interview with RFI, Mamadou Sangaré issued a warning to African football giants less than a week before CAN 2025 kicks off.

Next Sunday, CAN 2025 kicks off in Morocco. Considered one of the best midfielders in France’s Ligue 1, Sporting Lens’ Mamadou Sangare is full of confidence and ready to take on Mali in the continental showdown. For him, participating in the African Cup of Nations for the first time was the realization of a childhood dream.

“Yeah, I can’t wait. It’s a dream come true. Our family has been watching CAN games together since I was a kid. When you get the opportunity to compete, it’s incredible. It will be an extraordinary moment for me.” He started by talking about the Marlies. “The spirit is really good, like the whole team. The atmosphere in the national team is very good. Everyone is focused and we know what we have to do. We often talk about the goals we set. We hope to go to Morocco and achieve something big and make the people of Mali proud.” Mamadou Sangare added.

When asked about the favorites for the CAN Championship in 2025, Mamadou Sangaré replied: “When you go into a tournament it’s about winning. Of course we are one of the favourites. Don’t forget we are Mali. We have great players and a strong squad. I have full confidence in our team and I know we can achieve something extraordinary.”
