California Governor Gavin Newsom continues his colorful public campaign to attack President Donald Trump’s reputation and conduct, this time launching a page on the state’s website purportedly “tracking Trump’s top 10 criminal cronies” — a list that features the cryptocurrency world prominently.
The state’s own website includes the new page, with Newsom’s comments: “Trump is a felon who surrounds himself with liars and drug dealers,” he said. “We are providing the public with a resource that puts the facts together so Californians and all Americans can see who he elevated and who he protected.”
The site, which attempts to show that crime rates are down in California, includes sections on former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ), who Trump pardoned in October; Ross Ulbricht, the Silk Road founder who Trump pardoned in his first month in office; and the co-founder of BitMEX, who Trump pardoned in May. They include stylized photos of prominent figures such as Trump, each stamped with the word “FELON.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on its website.
Newsom, who often tongue-in-cheek mocks the president on social media, has grown in national profile and the governor is widely considered a potential 2028 Democratic presidential contender.
