The success of the Buccaneers’ offense in 2025 will depend on the health of the players surrounding quarterback Baker Mayfield. He stayed healthy for the most part, but in Week 13, he entered the game with a shoulder sprain that limited his normal playing style.
ESPN wrote up the highlights of the game, with Buccaneers beat reporter Jenna Laine discussing Mayfield’s performance.

Lane wrote, “Any concerns about quarterback Baker Mayfield’s sprained AC joint in his non-throwing shoulder were minimized. He passed for just 194 yards and one touchdown, but he made a play with his legs (31 yards rushing, including a 21-yard crawl up the middle), made no turnovers, and was especially effective throwing on the move.”
Mayfield’s injury is something the Buccaneers are unlikely to happen again, or worse. Teddy Bridgewater came into the game in the second half of the team’s Week 12 loss to the Rams, but the team struggled to find any momentum. That alone proves Mayfield’s value, so while his performance on Sunday wasn’t the best, it was better than the other options.
