The Cleveland Browns have a strong class in the 2025 draft, and while Carson Schweisinger is the favorite for Rookie of the Year, Harold Fannin Jr. is an equally impactful prospect.

As a Day 2 tight end, Fanning became the focal point of the Browns offense and helped give Shaddell Sanders and Dillon Gabriel a top weapon amid struggles in the wide receiver room.
However, as Underdog NFL shared, Fanning will not play in Week 18, ending the star rookie tight end’s season a week early.

Cleveland ruled Fanning out for the regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18, ending his rookie season due to a groin issue that arose in practice in Week 17.
Fanning will miss the Browns’ final game of the season, but he still put up some incredible numbers. He caught 73 passes for 731 yards and seven touchdowns.

Those marks rank fifth, sixth and fourth, respectively, among rookie tight ends since 2000, according to Underdog NFL data. Fanning is one of the best rookie tight ends of the past quarter-century.
Not only did Fanning put up numbers for the Browns, but he was one of the best rookie tight ends in NFL history in recent years.

Fanning’s 72 catches were the most among Browns receivers and the most among rookies this season. His 731 receiving yards are the most of any Browns player this season and rank fourth among 2025 rookies.

Cleveland hit a home run with the Fanning draft pick, and even though his rookie season was cut one game short, it was still an incredibly positive season.
Whether it’s Sanders or a rookie at quarterback next season, the Browns quarterback will have an incredible tight end class in 2026 and beyond.
