The Philadelphia Eagles officially downgraded backup offensive lineman Brett Toth from Sunday’s wild-card playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
After suffering a concussion in the Eagles’ Week 18 loss to the Washington Commanders, Toth missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday before being upgraded to limited practice on Friday. He was initially ruled questionable before being demoted.

Toth’s absence leaves the Eagles without their top backup options at starting guard and center. It remains to be seen how the team will handle replacing him if necessary. If Cam Jurgens gets injured, rookie Drew Kendall could play center. Alternatively, the Eagles could move Landon Dixon to center (as they did in last year’s playoffs) and slot Matt Pryor at left guard. If Dixon or Tyler Steen get injured, Pryor will step in at linebacker.
Speaking of offensive line injuries, it’s unclear if Lane Johnson will play Sunday. The good news is the Eagles didn’t demote him like they did with Toth. All signs point to Johnson giving it a try. But we’ll see if he can actually finish.
